Sequins on a base cloth

Sequinned fabric is made by stitching sequins in rows onto a base, often a stretch mesh or knit, so the sparkle stays put and the cloth still drapes and moves. The sequins usually lie in one direction, like a pile.

Use it for dance and skating costumes, stage wear, party and occasion dresses, and accent panels. Practical advice: cut with old scissors, and clear the sequins off the seam line before sewing — picking them off the seam allowance first saves broken needles and gives a seam that lies flat rather than lumpy.
