A range is a set of fabrics released as one collection: a main print, smaller companion prints and coordinating plains or blenders, all worked out in the same palette by the designer rather than matched by eye in a shop.

That matters most on projects using several fabrics at once — a quilt, a set of cushions, bunting, a bag with contrast lining. Buying within one range removes the hardest decision and guarantees the colours sit together. As with any collection, ranges are produced in runs and retired, so buy everything a project needs while the range is current.
