The everyday reel

Moon is a general-purpose polyester thread, the sort most sewing rooms keep a wall of. Polyester suits nearly everything: it has a little give, so it will not snap on a knit seam the way pure cotton thread can, and it holds colour through washing.

Use it for general construction on woven and stretch fabric, overlocking and hand sewing. Match the thread weight to the fabric rather than the colour alone, and keep strong thread for bags and upholstery, where an everyday reel will eventually give way at the load points.
