A jelly roll is a set of fabric strips cut to a uniform width from one coordinated range and rolled together. The cutting — usually the slowest and least enjoyable part of starting a quilt — is already done, and the colours already work together.
Strip-based patterns are built around them, so a jelly roll can go almost straight into a quilt top, a table runner, bunting or a bag panel. Because the strips come from one range, a single roll gives a complete, coherent palette without any matching on your part.
