Hard-wearing and low maintenance
Polyester holds its shape, resists creasing, keeps its colour through repeated washing and dries quickly. It does not absorb water the way natural fibres do, which is what makes it practical for anything that gets washed often or worn hard.
It suits linings, school and work clothes, costumes, bunting, table covers and craft projects. Two things to know when sewing it: it melts rather than scorches, so use a cool iron and a pressing cloth; and it can be slippery to cut, so use a fine sharp needle and pin or weight it well on a single layer.
