Interfacing
9 products
Interfacing from £2.95 — fusible and sew-in stabiliser that gives structure to collars, cuffs, facings and bags.
Sew-in, iron-on and stitch-reinforced options
Interlinings provide support, shape and firmness to garment pieces where the outer fabric needs reinforcement. Sew-in varieties are stitched directly into seam allowances without the use of heat, making them suitable for materials sensitive to pressing. Iron-on interlinings feature an adhesive coating that bonds firmly to the reverse of the cloth under an iron.
The collection spans light, medium, heavy and firm weights, supplied in white or charcoal to match pale or dark dressmaking fabrics. For added resilience along the grain, stitch-reinforced interlinings prevent stretching in tailored areas, whilst ultrasoft finishes lend support without producing a rigid feel. Several choices in the range are both washable and dry cleanable, with widths including 90cm.
Specialist backings for embroidery and applique
Certain decorative and mending techniques call for specialised stabilising and bonding webs rather than standard garment interlinings:
- Stitch & Tear: A washable, medium weight embroidery backing used to stabilise fabric during needlework.
- Vlieseline Bondaweb: Supplied in dimensions such as 30m x 44cm, this web has adhesive on both sides. It is used to fuse materials together for appliques, mending and handicrafts, adhering to all fabrics, felt, raffia and cardboard.
