How sheer polyester voile behaves and drapes
Voile is a lightweight fabric with a soft, see-through finish. Because the polyester fibres produce a supple cloth rather than a stiff one, it gathers cleanly and falls into gentle, fluid folds. It allows daylight to filter through softly, which makes it practical for light window sheer panels, decorative canopies, and flowing garment layers.
Standard 150cm versus extra-wide 300cm cuts
The choice between widths generally depends on whether you need to avoid vertical seams across a wide drop:
- 150cm width: Works well for standard dressmaking projects, domestic-scale curtain tracks, and smaller decorative pieces.
- 300cm width: Gives you double the coverage in a continuous piece, making it straightforward to drape across tall ceilings, broad glass doors, or wide room dividers without mid-panel stitching.
Why select inherently flame retardant voile?
The 300cm plain polyester option is inherently flame retardant (FR'd). Because this flame resistance is built directly into the structure of the synthetic fibre rather than added as a surface coating, the protection remains an integral part of the fabric itself. It is intended for public venue installations, stage drapery, and display backdrops where fire-retardant materials are specified, all while preserving the delicate sheer appearance.
