Fabric by the metre, cut to your length
Over 10,000 fabrics across 111 categories, all cut to order. Whatever length you ask for arrives as one continuous piece, not several joined offcuts — order 3.5 metres and you receive 3.5 metres in a single cut, which is what matters when you are laying out a pattern.
The range covers the three things people come here for: pure cottons for quilting and dressmaking, stretch knits for anything worn close to the body, and heavier weights for curtains, upholstery and bags.
Choosing by what you're making
If you are new to sewing, start with woven cotton — poplin, craft cotton or printed 100% cotton. It presses crisply, holds a seam, does not slip under the machine foot, and forgives a lot.
For clothes that need to move, look at jersey and other knits: they stretch and recover, so a t-shirt or leggings keep their shape. For anything that has to hold a shape rather than drape — bags, cushions, chair covers — canvas, drill and upholstery weights carry the structure without lining.
For drape, viscose, chiffon and satin fall close to the body in soft folds. They are more difficult to cut than cotton, so they reward a sharp needle, a single-layer layout and patience.

Prices are per metre and most fabrics start under £5. UK delivery is £4.95 and free over £100, and an order placed before 2pm on a working day is usually dispatched the same day.
